Finish the painting day

Started the painting, nice and quiet, then the world and his wife come past, the waste tank overflowed, which then needed to be emptied pronto, so a quiet day painting and watching the world go by, ended with getting a pumpout, descending seven locks to Penkridge and getting water as well, just goes to show that some days you should stay in bed.

Now moored below Penkridge Lock awaiting Anni, who is coming on Friday for a few days, relaxing with an ice cream and a few beers, getting our breath back, on the plus side I did manage to get two coats of paint on the gunnels as well

And after, the dots are midges I think

Started but not finished

Have managed to rubdown the remaining side, but then the sun moved round so it was too hot to paint, so will paint in the cool of the morning tomorrow, hopefully it will be quiet as there has been loads of boats passing by today

Gailey

Set off from Brewood after a bit of shopping, very early as we were awoken by a boat speeding pass and banged us about, so off to the stop lock at Autherley Junction had a brief passing with Moonshadow, who were heading from whence we had come from, may meet up again, for a catch up.

After topping up the water tank, we headed off towards Gailey, back on the Staffs & Worcs, looking for somewhere to complete the painting, after pausing at Coven for lunch as I was getting fed up with someone chasing us, it was decided not to be the greatest of spots, we continued and ended up mooring above the lock at Gailey, hopefully all things being equal the gunnels will be painted at last and maybe a few other jobs off the list

Too darn hot for painting

After going to Bridge 25 and winding at the owners discretion in Highonn Wharf, the heat was building and by the time we had returned from whence we came from, it was deemed too hot, so after lunch, we filled up with diesel (235l @ 73.9) at Turners Garage and water and went to Brewood as it is the weather for a curry, so are now moored by The Bridge Inn and off for a takeaway soon and of course a few cold lagers

Hot Day

A bit too hot for rubbing down and painting, but I pushed on with it, as it will not get done after this opportunity.

One side down one to go, up to the winding hole in the morning and then back to the same spot to do the other side, may remember to take before and after photos next time

Hot and Sunny – Hurrah

As the forecast is good all week, it is time to find somewhere to get the gunnels painted, plus we need diesel, so we set off for Wheaton Aston, where the towpath is low enough and Turners Garage diesel price is 74.9p per litre

Now moored opposite Turners Garage, no excuses now to get one side rubbed and painted, will make a start in the morning as Carrie is now saying it is too hot, no pleasing some people.

It’s a disaster darling

As it is my birthday today, only two to go until till the next big one – we thought we would spend a quiet day, out for lunch at Alex’s as it is closed in the evening, but that plan was thwarted as it was closed for a deep clean, Plan B, go to the Oddfellows Hall Pub, so the long lunch in the bistro, turned into a quick so so sandwich and a pint, can’t win them all, but at least the sun is shining

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes
